Description

Clinical Psychologist Neonatal
Closing date: 28 July 2026

Job summary
We are a nurturing and compassionate team that values a psychologically-informed and family integrated approach. We are keen to hear from any qualified or soon to be qualified clinical psychologists with an interest in neonatal psychology. The exciting Maternity and Neonatal Redesign programme is almost complete, with the last of the additional cots opening at QMC over recent months. We recognise that neonatal psychology may be a new area of practice for most applicants and additional training and building of competencies will be planned for the successful candidates.

The neonatal service in Nottingham provides tertiary level neonatal care for premature babies and their families. We are proud to offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants, as well as having an integrated outreach team in place to support babies and families once they return home.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to work as a member of the neonatal psychology team which delivers care on both City and QMC campuses. The post holder will provide a specialist clinical psychology service to babies and their families or carers accessing neonatal services; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions; offering consultation on the psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the department's policies and procedures. In addition to direct work with families, the post-holder will provide initial psychological intervention through consultation and training to the multi-disciplinary team and relevant multi-agency networks. The post holder will use the highest quality of psychological evidence and clinical accountability to inform and enable best practice.
