Clinical PsychologistThe closing date is 19 July 2026Job summaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and hardworking psychologist to join our clinical psychology (health) department at Salisbury District Hospital.
Our department consists of clinical psychologists, CBT therapists, counsellors, assistant psychologists and our excellent admin team.
We work across the age-span, and with inpatients, outpatients, family members, and staff members. We regularly host undergraduate and post-graduate placements and doctoral trainees. The psychology department is well-established and valued within the hospital, Trust, and hospital group.
This role will predominantly involve direct clinical work with patients and their families, alongside service evaluation, supporting pathway improvement projects, and upskilling colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams.
We are a friendly, dedicated, and supportive team, evidenced through our outstanding results on the annual NHS Staff Survey. Members of the team gave particularly high positive scores for questions relating to their role, team, and leadership of the department.

Main duties of the job- To provide a clinical psychology service to a range of different departments within the hospital
- To provide psychological assessment, formulation, and therapy to patients and their families.
- To contribute psychological perspectives, formulations, and advice to multidisciplinary teams of the relevant departments at the hospital.
- To support the wider department in implementing and evaluating service priorities and improvements.
- To prepare and deliver teaching sessions to staff and/or patients.
- To maintain contemporaneous clinical records in line with NHS record keeping and GDPR requirements.

Person SpecificationEssential- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable- Experience of working in the field of clinical psychology as applied to physical health (working in physical healthcare settings)
- Experience of working in the field of clinical psychology as applied to physical health (working in a hospital setting)

- Specialist knowledge and experience of psychological approaches to the management of trauma
