Due to service development, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Outpatients Sister / Charge Nurse with a special interest in Tissue Viability and Wound Care to join our dedicated Outpatient Department team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinical leader who is passionate about delivering safe, effective and compassionate care while supporting the development of tissue viability practice across the hospital.

The Role
As the Outpatients Sister, you will provide visible clinical leadership within the Outpatient Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and an exceptional patient experience.

Alongside your departmental responsibilities, you will act as the hospital's lead nurse for Tissue Viability, supporting best practice in wound assessment, prevention and management across all clinical areas.

You will work closely with clinical teams, consultants, ward staff and theatre colleagues to promote evidence-based practice, improve patient outcomes and drive quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Outpatient Leadership

• Provide day-to-day clinical and operational leadership within the Outpatient Department.
• Support and develop a high-performing nursing team.
• Ensure excellent patient care standards are consistently maintained.
• Manage staffing, patient flow and departmental resources effectively.
• Support governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
• Act as a professional role model and clinical expert.

Tissue Viability Lead Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on wound management and skin integrity.
• Lead the development of tissue viability standards, policies and clinical guidance.
• Conduct wound assessments and provide support for complex cases.
• Promote pressure ulcer prevention and management strategies.
• Lead tissue viability audits and quality improvement projects.
• Deliver education and training to multidisciplinary teams.
• Support investigation and learning from wound-related incidents.
• Work collaboratively with external specialist teams where required.

What We're Looking For
Essential

• Registered Nurse (NMC Registered).
• Significant post-registration experience in a clinical setting.
• Previous experience within Outpatients, Surgical Nursing or Acute Care.
• Experience of leading and developing clinical teams.
• Strong wound management and tissue viability knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Ability to lead quality improvement and clinical governance activities.

Desirable

• Tissue Viability qualification or equivalent specialist training.
• Experience as a Tissue Viability Link Nurse or Lead.
• Leadership or management qualification.
• Independent prescribing qualification.
• Experience within independent healthcare.
