Job summary
Applications are invited from for the full-time post of Specialty Doctor in Clinical Oncology for a fixed term period of 23 months, based at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. Please note is advert is aimed exclusively for doctors enrolled within the Royal College of Radiologists Oncology Collaboration Pilot Programme, which aims to provide a supported pathway for overseas doctors to join the NHS working as a senior doctor in Clinical Oncology.

Please do not apply for this role if not enrolled in this programme. Applications received from doctors not enrolled in this programme will not be shortlisted.

This is a fixed term (23 months) full-time speciality grade post aimed at overseas doctors at ST7-8 level with a view to completing a portfolio pathway for entrance onto the GMC specialist register as a clinical/oncologist in the UK.

Medical cover will be provided for the Acute Oncology Service

More detail about the role
Applicants will be expected to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold current RCR membership. Candidates must have the full FRCR qualification and a minimum of 3 years experience at postgraduate level in clinical/ radiation oncology, including a minimum of 12 months experience in managing acutely unwell oncology patients with minimal supervision. Candidates should also have evidence of clinical practice in Clinical or Radiation Oncology for a minimum of 4 years Full Time Equivalent (FTC) out of the last 5 years.

In-patient oncology service provision takes place on Yeo ward, a 23-bedded unit taking direct admissions of acutely unwell oncology patients from home, as well as patients admitted electively for treatment. Our day-case unit is located on Cherrybrook where patients receive systemic anti-cancer treatment and Yarty Day Case which provides initial assessment from our Acute Oncology team.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 9-5pm with occasional weekend and evening working as part of the Oncology registrar rota.
