Job summary
This is the ideal job for doctors who have completed a foundation programme or early training andare interested in a career in surgery.

The post holder will undertake the usual spectrum of surgical care in theatres, wards, emergency and outpatient departments. This is not a training post but the successful candidate will have the same access as current trainees within the Royal Free London postgraduate training programme.

Main duties of the job
We are currently recruiting 1 JCF Permanent post.

On-call commitments will be as part of the doctors at night team (SHO equivalent) covering surgery 1 in 8. The successful candidate will be part of the fully supported on-call rota.

Education & professional Qualifications
Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • GMC registration
  • Membership of relevant Royal College or equivalent
  • Strong oral and written communications skills in English
  • Experience in teaching

Desirable
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • Postgraduate degree

Surgical knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
  • Ability to work at ST2 level and above in surgery (or equivalent)
  • Up to date log book for inspection
  • Ability to supervise the clinical work of doctors in training and other staff
  • Strong teaching skills and experience
  • Ability to organise and prioritise personal workload
  • Awareness and understanding of health, safety and security issues for self and others
