Job summary
Ready to take the next step in your education and workforce development career? We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative clinician to join our Clinical Education team as a Band 7 Clinical Educator (CPD -- Healthcare Support Workers) on a fixed-term contract through to December 2027. This is an excellent development opportunity for an experienced Band 6 aspiring to a Band 7 role or an established Band 7 looking for a new challenge and broader organisational impact.

In this Trust-wide role, you will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of high-quality education and continuing professional development programmes for our Healthcare Support Worker workforce (Bands 2-4 and progressing into Band 5). Key responsibilities include developing and delivering clinical skills training, induction and Care Certificate programmes; supporting competency assessment and workforce development pathways; working clinically to support learners and staff requiring additional development; leading education quality assurance activities; and line managing and coaching education staff. You will collaborate with clinical, workforce and academic partners to shape learning opportunities, support career progression and contribute to the delivery of the Trust's education strategy.

Main duties of the job
The post is available at 0.66--0.76 WTE (depending on current salary and experience), offering flexibility while providing a unique opportunity to influence workforce development, improve patient care and gain valuable leadership and educational experience.

We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979. It also offers emergency heart attack treatment, sleep centre care and is one of just five centres nationally for those in severe respiratory failure.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Professional clinical registration in Nursing, Allied Healthcare Professional, Pharmacy or Healthcare Science with associated qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to diploma or degree level.
  • PLUS specialist professional knowledge relevant to practice / post with demonstratable competence to masters level equivalent.
  • Leadership/management training and/or experience.
  • Teaching / training experience.

Experience
Essential
  • To be an expert within own field of practice.
  • Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team as well as mentor and educate junior staff.
  • Knowledge and application of clinical governance frameworks including Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge and application of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others workload.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in further training and education.
  • Competent IT skills.
