An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manager to join the Neonatal Surgical Unit, working alongside the current NSU Ward Manager.
You will be responsible for leading and monitoring workload and workforce resources, as well as being an expert in the delivery of clinical skills and knowledge in Neonatal Surgery to promote advancing practice. You will work in conjunction with the Matron for Critical Care in the exercise of excellent clinical leadership, management of resources, practice development, and in all aspects of the Neonatal Surgical specialty to ensure the highest standard of patient care delivery to infants/babies.
You will be responsible for the professional development and educational needs of the NSU nursing team and for leading agreed projects related to the service; managing the unit staff including appraisals, absence management and rotas. To lead and carry out the assessment, planning and implementation of programmes of care, providing support and guidance.
As Ward Manager, you will be qualified in Neonatal Speciality (QIS) and will be a key member of the Neonatal Surgical Unit team, providing care to premature and newborn babies requiring high dependency and intensive care, in conjunction with most surgical specialities from the Yorkshire and Humber region. Main duties of the jobReporting into the Matron your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the ward in different settings, ensuring high-quality care for children, following unit protocols and Trust policies.
- Monitor workload and workforce resources on a daily basis to ensure smooth operation.
- Lead and support junior colleagues in delivering care, including assessing, planning, and implementing care programmes.
- Oversee the professional development of the team, setting objectives and helping staff meet their goals.
