The post does not award a National Training Number. This post is not recognised as a 'training post' and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to those of a registrar at ST6-ST8 level. MRCP or equivalent is essential.

The purpose of this Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology is to provide extensive training in advanced cardiac rhythm management at the Northern General Hospital. This is a large interventional electrophysiology centre in the UK. It serves the population of South Yorkshire and NE Derbyshire (1.8 - 2.0 million). The Fellowship will involve training in catheter ablation, including the use of 3-dimensional mapping system and other technologies with emphasis on imaging modalities and their integration with invasive electrophysiology. In addition, the Fellow will be involved with the in-patient and out-patient assessment of patients presenting with electrical cardiac issues

Person SpecificationClinical experienceEssential:
- ST6-ST8 or equivalent
- Experience of electrophysiology procedure including complex ablation
- Proactive care of pre- and post-procedural patients
- Insight into abilities and knowledge and ability to ask for help if required
Desirable:
- First- operator experience of transseptal puncture and complex ablation procedures
QualificationsEssential:
- Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application.
- Basic Medical Degree
- Satisfactory completion of foundation training or equivalent
- minimum 2 years of general Cardiology training and three years of general medicine training or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
Desirable:
- Higher research degree in an EP- related topic.
- IBHRE or EHRA EP accreditation
Clinical Governance , audit & ResearchEssential:
- Experience of audit projects
- Understanding of research principles.
Desirable:
- Active involvement in a clinical governance programme
Teaching and trainingEssential:
- Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students /resident doctors .
