Description

Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a motivated Consultant Cardiologist to join our team of 17 consultant cardiologists delivering countywide cardiology services. The post will be predominantly based at Yeovil District Hospital however there will be an expectation to work cross sites to support county wide service/working.

You will provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care, support service development, and contribute to teaching, research and clinical governance activities within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust, with significant investment in cardiology services, including the new Yeovil Diagnostic Centre and modern facilities across Somerset.

Main duties of the job
In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of high quality General Cardiology services, including ward rounds on the ACCU and cardiology ward, alongside managing approximately three outpatient clinics per week and triaging referrals. You will play a key part in developing and improving inpatient pathways to enhance patient flow and reduce length of stay, while also delivering subspecialty clinics aligned with your expertise and the needs of the service. The post includes active involvement in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, as well as participation in clinical governance, audit, and research activities. We welcome applicants with any subspecialty interest; while an interest in imaging is desirable, it is not essential.
