Job SummaryThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Therapy Team. The post holder will be employed as a Senior Occupational Therapist working collaboratively with other Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Assistants across the Front of house and virtual ward and medical wards
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be expected to have experience in the occupational therapy assessment and management of acute care patients, patient flow and facilitating discharges and have gained experience across a variety of specialities.
The Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Service are well established large, progressive and dynamic services, which continue to develop within the Trust. The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from senior clinicians and the AHP Service Leads.
This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research and the Hospital has close links with both the University of Teesside and Durham University

Person SpecificationQualifications & TrainingEssential- BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
Desirable- Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days)
Knowledge and SkillsEssential- Basic IT skills
- Demonstrates analytical skills and judgement when dealing with the Occupational Therapy management/Physiotherapy management of complex clients
- To display effective communication skills, communicating complex, sensitive and contentious information to patients, carers and colleagues
- Good understanding of the structure, policies, priorities and format of the NHS
- Motivation and persuasion skills
- Good teaching and supervisory skills
- To display the ability to problem solve
- Theoretical knowledge and applied clinical practice in specialist area.
- Demonstrates detailed clinical reasoning skills.
- Good presentation skills
- Knowledge of relevant national guidelines and standards
Desirable- Evidence of taking a lead role in MDT working
- Audit and Research experience.
- Project Management experience
- Evidence of MDT teaching
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge and experience within FOH area.
ExperienceEssential- Experience at band 5 level including work as a rotational Occupational Therapist or rotational Physiotherapist in a variety of specialties
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses.
- Experience working as an autonomous practitioner at Band 5 level within the NHS.
Desirable- Member of professional body
- Member of a specific interest group
- Demonstrates experience of supervising and teaching staff, students and other members of the MDT.
- Neurological rehabilitation experience.
- Critical care experience.
