Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Ward 22 (Paediatrics) based at The James Cook University Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated children's nurse to join our team within The James Cook University Hospital. The Paediatric areas at The James Cook University Hospital include a Paediatric medical ward, trauma/surgical ward, Paediatric Decisions Unit, Paediatric Critical Care Unit and a Paediatric Outpatient Department.

Working as part of a caring and passionate nursing team you will responsibly deliver planned, direct patient care to a high standard in accordance with the Trust's established nursing procedures. Leading by example you will promote the safeguarding, wellbeing and interests of all patients and their families whilst taking personal responsibility for ensuring the needs of patients are achieved.

Main duties of the job
To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by using professional judgement and assuming responsibility and accountability for assessing, implementing and evaluating clinical care for patients to meet their needs in a safe caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the speciality and will assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. The post holder will supervise the working of health care assistants and support workers and support the training and assessment of student nurses. Always Demonstrates the trust Values and Behaviours for nursing and midwifery staff

Qualifications & Training

• Current NMC registration (child subpart)

Experience

• Experience of working within an acute or community setting.
• Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.

Skills & Knowledge

• An understanding of government and Trust documents/policies in relation to Children's Nursing.
• A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives.
• Ability to use initiative to decide within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required
