Job summaryWe are seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Governance and Safety team, with a key focus on Homecare services and controlled drug oversight.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective and cost-efficient delivery of medicines across South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job- Lead on homecare medicines procurement ensuring value for money and high-quality service delivery.
- Support the monitoring and audit of controlled drugs, identifying and escalating risks.
- Contribute to medicines governance, audit and quality improvement activities.
- Provide operational support across pharmacy services.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care and experience.
You will be:Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Accredited Checking Technician / Medicines Management experience.
- Have strong organisational, communication and analytical skills.
- Have experience in audit, governance, or procurement is desirable.
Have ability to work independently and prioritise within a busy environment.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- NVQ Pharmacy Level III with BTEC or equivalent underpinning knowledge.
- Accredited Checking and Medicines Management accreditation at Band 5.
Desirable- Undertaken first level HR training.
- Certified Business training or equivalent experience for Finance, planning, development of procedures and other Business Administration.
Physical / Mental AbilitiesEssential- Ability to work to the challenges and deadlines of the Post.
ExperienceEssential- Significant experience at Band 5 or equivalent.
- Experience of management delivery, supervision and supporting staff.
- Experience of providing training and / or assessment.
- Clinical or Service Audit.
Desirable- Experience in dealing with patients.
- Experience in Counselling.
SkillsEssential- Adaptable.
- Good communication skills.
- Good team worker.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable- Organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
