Job summary
Secondment opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse to join Ashdale Ward on a 11-month basis.

You will be friendly, approachable and professional with a confident and capable approach that will instil confidence in others. You will have a solution focused approach and a can-do attitude and the ability to develop helpful and respectful relationships with service users, peers and MDT colleagues that foster teamwork and positive attitudes. Having a trauma informed attitude and approach is essential.

As a clinical team leader on a busy inpatient unit, you will support the ward leadership team in the delivery of high-quality care for patients with a wide range of mental health problems. You will be confident, have good people skills and able to challenge tactfully and constructively and able to gain the respect and confidence of nursing, medical and MDT staff. You will act as a source of expertise to the nursing team, service users, their carers and the wider MDT. You will have ample opportunity to build your skills in leadership, management and development of staff, supervision and appraisal responsibilities, acting as a positive role model and facilitating preceptorship with newly registered nurses. The successful candidate will be expected to work a 24hr shift system so to ensure clinical leadership is provided across the day and night.

You will support the Ward Manager and Lead nurse in carrying out their duties.

In return you will be supported to gain invaluable experience and grow in confidence as part in our duty senior nurse rota, taking lead on site responsibility for the acute wards and older peoples wards.

Job responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

The service operates 365 days/year twenty four hours per day.

Workload Management

• To work flexibly to cover shifts to provide a 365 day per year service
• Co-ordinate and lead the team to make effective use of team skills to provide the best possible standards of care and treatment / interventions

Communication

• Actively support the philosophy of the Recovery Model within Adult Acute Inpatients.
• Role model excellent working relationships with all members of the Multi Disciplinary Team.
• Develop positive relationships with non-statutory and voluntary agencies to develop working partnerships as appropriate to the service development and local delivery
• Positively embrace service user / carer involvement in all aspects of service delivery wherever and whenever possible
• Act as a positive role model to develop and communicate a shared philosophy of culture and practice within the team.
