Job summaryHi, my name is Damian Madden and I am the Service Manager for NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies. We are excited to welcome applications for a Team Manager to work across Kirklees to offer strategic and operational management and support to the staff team who work in the service.
This post is on a temporary basis to cover for maternity leave for 12 months.This is an ideal opportunity for an individual to broaden their experience working in primary care and it is essential you hold a specialist professional psychological qualification or a registered Mental Health qualification. You must also be able to demonstrate experience of leading service improvement within a mental health service and have experience of clinical/operational and strategic management.
All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to have their up-to-date flu vaccination to protect staff and patients.Main duties of the jobThe team you will manage provide NICE compliant psychological therapy incorporating CBT, Counselling and Guided Self Help to clients in primary care across Kirklees. This is an 8-8 service Monday to Friday, and we offer sessions either by Microsoft Teams, telephone or face to face.
We hold clinics both in Trust premises and also in primary care settings across the area to ensure that were, as much as possible, nearby for the people that use the service.
We treat clients with common mental health problems such as depression or anxiety disorders like Generalised Anxiety Disorder, OCD, PTSD, social phobia or body dysmorphic disorder.
We consistently achieve our recovery target of 50%, for me thats important because it means were making a difference to peoples lives.

Job responsibilitiesJOB SUMMARYThis job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

KEY RESULT AREAS:1. Leadership and Management- Lead the core team and provide service and act as the central point of contact for any external services or agencies.
- Manage a delegated expenditure within the allocated team and service budget.
- Ensure the core team and provided service is developed and maintained in line with commissioned principles of the Talking Therapies service specification.
- Ensure that the core team contributes appropriately to meeting the service targets agreed with commissioners.
- To be visible and accessible to Talking Therapies staff and to frequently meet with, and openly communicate with them.
2. Partnerships- Ensure effective liaison with all primary and secondary care partners.
- Collaborate with the necessary range of other statutory and non-statutory agencies across areas; enabling effective use of existing resources, and raising awareness of issues.
- Provide a responsive and flexible service which aims to support individuals in the community where appropriate by working in partnership with the individual and community agencies.
- Take a lead responsibility for service user and carer involvement by the core team and ensure that opportunities for feedback and input are maximised.
- Utilise the skill and experience available in the full range of statutory and non-statutory agencies in the care and treatment of individuals accessing the Talking Therapies.
- Promote links with, and actively co-opt other services and resources to facilitate social, educational, and employment opportunities for the team caseload and wider services.
- Lead the team in providing care and treatment that recognises the importance of housing, employment, education, recreational activities, advocacy, social networks, friendships and welfare benefits for the individual and their family.

A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
QualificationsEssential- Dip Nursing RMHN, RMN, Dip/Degree Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology/CBT.
- Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience.
Desirable- Further post qualification training (CBT).
- Appropriate management qualification.
TrainingEssential- Willing to uptake appropriate training as identified.
- Facilitate training to the Team.
Personal AttributesEssential- The candidate will demonstrate / articulate their :-

Special Knowledge & SkillsEssential- The candidate will :-
- Be able to demonstrate / articulate knowledge and in-depth understanding of IAPT and the Stepped care model.
- Demonstrate and apply an appropriate depth in knowledge and experience of community care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current mental health policy and service drivers.
- Demonstrate and apply an appropriate level of understanding regarding the IAPT MDS and its reporting requirements.
- The candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to :
- Apply knowledge of HR and Budgetary management.
- Apply knowledge of performance monitoring and management.
- Apply knowledge of mental health policy and legislation.
- Exercise professional leadership with regard to decision making and problem solving.
- Co-ordinate dynamics of MDT.
- Effectively manage time and resources (assess, prioritise and plan).
- Responsible for the setting and maintenance of standards of care / service.
- Conduct and co-ordinate KSF reviews.
- Working knowledge and experience in facilitating supervision.
- Utilise good interpersonal relationships and effective communication to promote high staff morale within the team.

- To communication effectively, being articulate and meaningful in both verbal and written formats.

ExperienceEssential- Substantial demonstrable post-registration experience in Mental health, including holding a senior clinical position.
- Experience of working either with or within primary care mental health services.
Desirable- Previous / current experience of senior community post.
