Job summaryWe are recruiting a Salaried GP for 4 sessions per week on a 1-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of review and extension.
To provide high-quality primary care medical services to patients registered with the Practice, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The postholder will also contribute to the management of long-term conditions, health promotion, disease prevention, and screening services.
Main duties of the jobThis role involves delivering high quality clinical care through patient consultations, clinical decision making, and effective management of your own caseload. You will contribute to practice audits, QOF/PCN activity, safe prescribing, and the development of policies and standards.
Alongside maintaining accurate records and supporting governance, you will uphold patient safety, safeguarding, infection control, and incident reporting requirements.
The role also includes active participation in training, appraisal, and professional development, while fostering strong communication and teamwork across the organisation.
About usThe Grove Surgery is an innovative, well established GP Practice with a list size of 8200 patients and is still growing. We are part of East MK PCN.
You will be working with 3 GP partners, one ANP, 3 nurses, 1 HCA, 1 clinical pharmacist and a team of 16 admin staff.
Job responsibilities- Clinical/Service Specific Responsibilities
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within practice or external organisations.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Effectively manage own time, workload, and resources
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Screening patients for health education
Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes and contributing to the practice audit as required
Contributing to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately
Contributing to PCN requirements and recording data appropriately
Contribute towards the development and implementation of new standards, policies and procedures that are or will be required of GP Practices now and in the future.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary or generically whenever this is clinically appropriate and review as and when required.
Contribute to the development of high-quality computer based and paper light patient records.
To participate in CQC visit.

- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
- To maintain a good working relationship with staff, doctors, and patients. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on ones own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the performance of the team and service development.
HR, Training and Development Responsibilities:-- Maintain own competencies to practice and ensure current profile folder and registration with appropriate professional body is maintained.
- Beware and adhere to HR polices.
- To participate in clinical supervision and understand when it may be necessary to access advice and support from senior colleagues, peers, and lead consultants.
- To participate in the Practices annual Appraisal process.
- To attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.
Quality and Patient Safety- Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines.
- Infection Control - To be responsible for the prevention and control of infection.
- Incident reporting - To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Grove Surgery incident reporting policy ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence.
- To contribute to the identification, management, and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility.
- To ensure day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety, and patient experience.
- To ensure monitoring of quality and compliance with standards is demonstrable within the service on an ongoing basis.
- To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients/ clients, visitors, and staff.
Communication and Key Working Relationships- Provide advice and support for staff
- Take responsibility to communicate the day to day working issues that impact on the service
General Responsibilities- To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.
- To comply with the Professional Codes of Conduct and to be aware of changes in these. To maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation and local policies and procedures implementing this.
- To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest standard and in accordance with currently quality initiatives within the work area.
- To comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Confidentiality of Information and to be aware of any changes in these.
