Job summaryTo ensure the continued delivery of high-quality Oncological care to patients within thetrust and to contribute to the further development of the service.The appointee will be Lead Medical Oncology Consultant for Breast & Hepatico-Pancreatico-Biliary Cancers. Like most cancer units and centres, there has been a steady rise in the number of patients being referred for treatment of these malignancies and anincrease in the use of multiple lines of chemotherapy, including the expansion in the useof monoclonal antibodies and other newer agents. The appointee will be expected tomaintain and enhance the multidisciplinary management of patients with thesemalignancies, to increase entry of patients into clinical trials and to expand the service asrequired to meet patient's needs.
Main duties of the jobThe appointed consultant would be expected to contribute to the on-going service improvement programme developing:
- Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
- Cost Improvement programme (CIP)
- Implementing evidence based new ways of working when necessary

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP Part 1 and Part 2
- Clinical Oncology Candidates - FRCR
Desirable- Postgraduate thesis awarded or pending
ExperienceEssential- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at time of interview
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Medical Oncology
- Wide experience of prescribing chemotherapy including E-prescribing.
- Experience of Acute Oncology
