Job summaryWe are seeking to recruit an Emergency Department Advanced Nurse or Paramedic Practitioners or Advance Care Practitioners to work across the urgent treatment centres, treating, discharging, referring and managing patients presenting with injuries and minor illness.
We are seeking Band 7 staff to work in a clinical capacity delivering autonomous advance practice helping develop the service delivery within the Minor Injury and Illness Service.
Suitable candidates must have undertaken accreditation in autonomous advanced practice such as advance practice clinical assessment/examination, relevant minor injury and illness programs and hold a qualification as a non-medical prescriber. Proven relevant experience in Emergency and urgent care is also required.

Qualifications and TrainingEssential- Degree level Registered Nurse (NMC) or paramedic practitioner(HCPC).
- Recognised accredited qualification & competency in autonomous practice, Nurse practitioner.
- Accredited qualification in advanced clinical assessment and examination and equivalent minor injury/illness degree/masters level programmes
- Broad senior level clinical experience relevant to the post e.g. minor injury, walk in centre or emergency department.
Desirable- A masters or master level post registration qualification or equivalent experience.
- Management Qualification.
- Management/leadership experience of teams or services
- Non-medical prescriber
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Advanced clinical skills & competence in patient assessment, clinical examination & treatment working to advanced MIU scope of practice.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills. Effective time management and organisational skills
- Development of protocols, guidelines and PGDs. Experience of working to PGDs
- Managing staff, managing sickness and absence. Off duty - rota development/management
- Advanced Suturing, wound closure. Application of POP.
- Advanced skills in IV drug administration, Venepuncture and cannulation.
- Digital Nerve blocks, manipulation of limbs
Desirable- Experience of standard setting and clinical audit.
- Evidence of changing practice in a clinical setting.
- Non- medical prescribing.
- Budget management experience.
- Management of teams including HR processes. Complaints, incident reviewer and investigator.
SkillsEssential- Significant experience of working in a Band 6/7 role within emergency/urgent care settings, working as senior practitioner.
- Evidence of continual Professional development.
- Clinical management experience to undertake 24hr responsibility of the unit.
Desirable- Teaching / clinical education experience
