The Clinical Audit Facilitator plays a key role in supporting the Trust to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care through a robust and well-governed clinical audit programme. The post holder will work closely with clinical teams across all services to plan, coordinate and deliver local, national and statutory audits, ensuring that audit activity is aligned to priorities such as patient safety, clinical effectiveness and regulatory compliance. They will provide specialist advice on audit methodology, support the collection and analysis of high-quality data, and assist services to develop meaningful, measurable action plans that drive improvement. The role also includes monitoring progress, identifying risks or delays, and escalating issues where required to ensure timely completion and delivery of assurance to Care Groups, CEG and the Quality Committee. This is a key role in strengthening learning, supporting evidence-based practice, and ensuring the Trust meets its obligations.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Audit Facilitator will:

• Coordinate and support the delivery of the Trust's clinical audit programme, including local priority audits and participation in agreed national audit programmes.
• Provide specialist advice to clinical teams on audit methodology, sampling, data collection and analysis to ensure audits are completed to a high standard.
• Work with services to develop clear, measurable action plans in response to audit findings, ensuring actions support improvements in patient care, safety and clinical effectiveness.
• Monitor progress against audit plans and action plans, identifying delays or barriers, and escalate risks to Care Groups and the Clinical Audit Group as appropriate.
• Prepare and present regular audit reports, updates and summaries for Care Groups, Clinical Audit Group and Clinical Effectiveness Group.
• Maintain accurate records of audit activity within the Trust's audit management system, ensuring all information is up to date and meets governance and reporting requirements.
• Support the identification of themes, trends and learning from audit findings to inform quality improvement initiatives and strengthen governance.
• Provide training, coaching and day-to-day support to staff undertaking clinical audits, helping to build capability and consistency across services.
• Work collaboratively with clinical, operational and corporate teams to ensure audit outcomes inform service development, patient safety work and the wider quality improvement agenda.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Job responsibilities
Supporting and coordinating the development of the Groups Clinical Audit Annual Work Programme and future clinical audit activities.

Supporting participation in all National Clinical Audits within the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCACOP) and Quality Account.

Ensuring all required clinical audit activity is carried out; meeting both internal requirements and requirements of external agencies.

Encouraging healthcare professionals to actively lead and participate in clinical audit by providing advice and support on the clinical audit process, the interpretation of clinical audit results and the identification of changes to practice.

Contributing to the development and delivery of training courses and materials for clinical audit.

Maintaining a database of clinical audit projects and provide progress reports on projects as required.

Ensuring that the best use is made of IT systems to support the generation of data collection proformas, data analysis, reporting and dissemination of results.

Completing quality assurance of data for clinical audit projects, checking for accuracy of data entered and ensuring completeness.

Performing electronic data extraction, analysis and reporting of clinical audit data.

Writing and disseminating audit reports and the wider dissemination of findings through posters and formal presentations at conferences and meetings internally and externally to the Group.

Monitoring the implementation of actions arising from clinical audit and ensure appropriate evidence is in place.

Maintaining an awareness of local and national developments that will have impact in clinical audit and effectiveness.

Facilitating the reporting mechanisms for clinical audit and to seek to develop further opportunities to share good practice.

Manging and implementing multiple projects at any one time and prioritise own time and workload effectively and to meet deadlines.

Acting as the clinical audit representative at meetings.

With Care Group Audit Leads ensuring systems are established to ensure clinical audit action plans are agreed, implemented and monitored by the relevant services/clinical teams and prepare regular reports on the progress of audit projects.

Preparing and proof reading audit reports and summaries where necessary, and to assist clinicians in this role to ensure completed reports are submitted to agreed timescales.

Organising clinical audit site meetings where audit findings are disseminated and discussed

Participating in recruitment, supervision, training and development of staff as required, including annual performance reviews.

Qualifications
Essential

• Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational experience.
• Evidence of Continual Professional Development.

Desirable

• Clinical Audit qualification or equivalent.
• Healthcare and/or relevant professional qualification.

Skills
Essential

• The ability to extract and analyse complex data from business management IT systems and databases.
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Windows based applications including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Strong administrative and organisational skills including accurate records management.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable

• An understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to the delivery of healthcare services in an acute hospital Trust.

Knowledge
Essential

• Knowledge and or experience creating/designing and implementing Data systems.
• Knowledge and or Experience of completing data audits
• Be familiar with Data Protection Act and freedom of information act.
