The candidate should have considerable experience in managing complex Endodontic challenges. Successful applicants will join well established teams in providing a wide range of Endodontic services as well as postgraduate teaching/ training. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in both leadership and teamworking. Candidates should be on/ eligible for the Specialist Register in Endodontics

Main duties of the jobUniversity College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a locum Consultant in Endodontics, for a 1-year fixed period. The post holder will have a commitment to high-quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.
The post-holder will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care putting the patient first in line with the Trust core values. They will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Endodontics and be able to demonstrate a high-quality approach to patient management.
They post holder is required to provide all aspects of Endodontic treatment, for multidisciplinary cases. Supervision/ teaching of trainees is also expected within the role.
Participation in issues such as clinical effectiveness relating to patient management is essential as well as sharing in the administrative tasks in the Department and Division. They will be expected to work closely with the highly skilled, well-established teams based at both sites in terms of both within the division, inter departmentally and as part of wider multi-disciplinary teams and networks.

Person SpecificationKnowledge and QualificationsEssential- Eligible for full registration with the GDC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
- On the GDC's Specialist Register for Endodontics or Restorative dentistry. Successful completion of an SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry. Or Within 6 months of completion of Specialist training programme at date of interview
- Either: Passed Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in restorative dentistry, or; Passed MEndo / MRD (endodontics) Royal College of Surgeons examination
Desirable- MFDS, MJDF or equivalent Postgraduate degree qualification in endodontics (MSc, MClinDent) or equivalent
Clinical ExperienceEssential- Comprehensive experience in the management of complex endodontic procedures.
- Proficient and competent in surgical endodontic treatment.
- Knowledge and experience in the management of a variety of dental traumatic injuries.
- Evidence of undertaking consultation clinics for endodontic referrals and communication with GDPS, level 2 providers, other specialists
- Experience in differentiation of endodontic and facial pain related diagnoses and management strategies.
Desirable- Understanding and management of patients with multidisciplinary problems across the interface within restorative dentistry and other disciplines in dentistry
- Competent in executing advanced surgical procedures in Endodontic surgery
Clinic Skills and AbilitiesEssential- Experience and competence in the diagnosis of complex endodontic problems, including the use of cone-beam CT and a variety of diagnostic aids.
- Experienced and ability to guide trainees in delivery of advanced procedures in relation to endodontics.
Desirable- Further training in CBCT interpretation (eg level 2)
- Able to diagnose patients with advanced needs which interface with other disciplines.
Clinical KnowledgeEssential- Specialist level knowledge in the field of endodontics +/- restorative dentistry.
- Use of evidence-based practice; can demonstrate thorough knowledge of the relevant literature.
Desirable- Utilisation of self-reflective practice to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Knowledge and understanding of how Endodontics interfaces with Restorative Dentistry and relevance.
Audit Management, Administration & ITEssential- Effective Participation in Audit by demonstration of completed audits
