We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Endometriosis Nurse Specialist to join the Women's Health Gynaecology Team at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD).

UHD is a specialist Endometriosis Centre of Excellence, providing care for patients with severe and complex endometriosis, including those requiring joint surgery with gynaecology and colorectal and teams.

This is a varied and rewarding role for a Registered Nurse looking to develop their career in specialist gynaecology. The role combines your own patient clinics and caseload with coordination of the Endometriosis MDT, preparation of patients for complex surgery and the organisation needed to keep their pathway moving.

You will be the dedicated Endometriosis Nurse Specialist and work with a high level of autonomy, while being well supported by our endometriosis consultants and the wider team of Gynaecology Nurse Specialists.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, organised and confident working independently, with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in developing specialist endometriosis care.

Base location: Poole Hospital, with weekly cross-site working at Bournemouth Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The Endometriosis Nurse Specialist has a varied and autonomous role, combining specialist patient care with the coordination of complex endometriosis pathways.

You will manage your own caseload through nurse-led clinics, providing information, advice and support to patients from investigation and diagnosis through to treatment, surgery and follow-up.

A key part of the role is coordinating the Severe Endometriosis Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), working closely with endometriosis consultants and colleagues across gynaecology, colorectal surgery and urology to support well-planned, joined-up care.

You will coordinate patients requiring complex endometriosis surgery, ensuring they are prepared and supported throughout their surgical pathway. UHD runs two joint endometriosis theatre lists across its sites, so strong organisation, communication and attention to detail are essential. The role includes a significant administrative element alongside direct patient care.

As the dedicated Endometriosis Nurse Specialist, you will work autonomously while being part of a supportive team of Gynaecology Nurse Specialists and the wider MDT.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to patient education, service improvement and the continued development of the UHD endometriosis service.

Qualifications
Essential

• NMC registered Adult Nurse/ Midwife

Desirable

• Counselling skills course
• Physical Examination of the Adult Course
• Non-medical prescriber course
• Recognised teaching qualification
• Masters level qualification or willingness to learn

Experience
Essential

• Demonstrable experience of working within gynaecology or women's health setting.
• Ability to utilise critical decision-making to formulate, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care
• Evidence of effective prioritisation and time management
• Evidence of working unsupervised under own initiative
• Post Registration Experience

Desirable

• Experience of supporting the management of change and developing a service
• Experience of leading, motivating and supporting team members

Other
Essential

• IT literacy using a range of current and relevant packages
• Ability to make sound clinical judgements and use sound clinical reasoning
• Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions
