Job summary
We are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our team, delivering clinical pharmacy services across RRCV, MSSUGGS and the Antimicrobial Pharmacy Service.

The roles available are:- RRCV (0.4 WTE)/Antimicrobials (0.6 WTE) and MSSUGGS (0.6 WTE)/Antimicrobials (0.4 WTE).

The post-holder will provide clinical pharmacy input within RRCV/MSSUGGS supporting safe, effective and patient-centred use of medicines for patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions. The post-holder will also be part of the antimicrobial team focusing on antimicrobial stewardship, contributing to the delivery of high-quality antimicrobial pharmacy services, supporting appropriate prescribing, infection management and optimisation of antimicrobial use across the Trust. This post offers a unique opportunity to develop skills across both specialist clinical pharmacy practice and antimicrobial stewardship, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. The role is essential to maintaining safe clinical services within both RRCV/MSSUGGS and antimicrobial services.

Main duties of the job
RRCV:
Based primarily at GGH, the RRCV team consists of the following specialities: Renal, Respiratory, Cardiology, Clinical Decisions Unit, Vascular and Specialist Surgery.

RRCV (2 days per week on Monday and Tuesday) and the Antimicrobial Pharmacy Service (3 days per week on Wednesday to Friday).

Deliver ward/clinic-based clinical pharmacy services including medicines reconciliation, clinical review, monitoring and patient counselling.

Provide medicines advice to the multidisciplinary team and contribute to audit, guideline development and medicines governance.

MSSUGGS:
This team is based across the LRI, LGH and Glenfield Hospital.This CMG covers the following clinical surgical specialties:
  • Trauma, Elective Orthopaedics and Ortho-geriatrics.
  • Specialist surgery (ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, Plastics)
  • Gastroenterology, HPB,General surgery(Bariatrics and Colorectal)

You will be supported to progress both clinically and professionally, working closely with experienced pharmacists and an engaged multidisciplinary team.

Antimicrobial Pharmacy Service (2 days per week on Monday and Tuesday) and MSSUGGS (3 days per week on Wednesday to Friday).

Antimicrobial:
To support delivery of the Trust's antimicrobial stewardship programme, promoting appropriate antimicrobial use.

Provide advice on antimicrobial prescribing and infection management in line with local and national guidance.

Participate in stewardship ward rounds, audit and quality improvement initiatives.

You will utilise your clinical skills and experience by providing clinical pharmacy services to wards and other areas,assistingwith the training and development of others and supporting the improvement of the services. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and will helpmaintainthe high standard of services that are already provided. Independent Prescribing is integral to our pharmacists roles.

Post holder will be expected to contribute towards evening, on-call, bankholidayand weekend rotas.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential
  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in pharmacy.
  • Post-graduate certificate in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy practice or evidence of equivalent clinical experience
  • Working towards completion of a Post graduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy/ Pharmacy practice
  • Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of post registration commitment to continuing professional development
  • Registered as an Independent Prescriber or ability to complete training upon appointment

Desirable
  • Membership of a professional body e.g. MRPharmS or UKCPA or equivalent specialist group
  • Evidence of Practice Research projects undertaken
  • Registered Independent Prescriber
  • Evidence of leadership training and skills particularly change management

Experience
Essential
  • Approaching 2 years (minimum) post-registration experience in pharmacy practice with relevant clinical experience

Desirable
  • Experience of working in hospital
  • Experience of teaching/tutoring
  • Evidence of achievement in the capacity of clinical/ward pharmacist
  • Experience of on-call/ability to deal with calls out of hours.
