Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our team in the role of Lower Limb Practitioner for 12 months. This post will be suitable for a nurse or podiatrist.

The clinician will take responsibility for the triage, clinical assessment and diagnosis of the complex health and well-being needs within a defined sphere of practice. They will implement, evaluate and modify complex care/ interventions which they have developed to meet those needs. Contributing to the management of patients with complex limb and life threatening needs, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of service innovations within their portfolio as well as training to the team. This role provides opportunity for developing wound care, debridement, offloading and arterial assessment skills

A departmental visit is encouraged prior to interview.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, accessible and timely evidence based clinical pathway for patients.

You will work within both the community Podiatry service and in the outpatient/inpatient hospital setting at Furness General Hospital, where you will be responsible for the provision of care to the high risk lower limb.

You will provide quality, evidence based clinical interventions, take responsibility for educating and training colleagues and support the community Podiatry team. You need to be an excellent communicator, able to work independently and confidently and possess well developed organisational skills.

About us
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Qualifications
Essential

• BSc (Hons) Podiatry or Nursing
• Post Basic qualification in specialist area

Desirable

• Master's Module

Experience
Essential

• Relevant post-basic qualification experience
• Current knowledge and experience of caring for patients with condition related to post
• Evidence of clinical competence in the speciality

Desirable

• Experience of and ability to work as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team

Skills, Ability & Knowledge
Essential

• Demonstrable clinical skills within specialist area
• Knowledge of clinical governance and its application

• Up to date knowledge of the developments in appropriate area care
