Medical Laboratory Assistant
37.5 hrs per week (24/7 shift rota)
We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to work within our Infection Sciences Department. at the Royal Stoke University Hospital site. The post holder will be required to perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks within Pathology following Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including the Pathology Quality Policy, to provide clerical and technical support to Biomedical Scientists in order to ensure a high quality service in all areas of the relevant Pathology Discipline.
Main duties of the jobThe post will be based in Infection Sciences ( Bacteriology) at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Person SpecificationPersonal qualities- Personal Qualities Essential criteria Maximum score 4 Prepared to work flexibly including participating in weekend and other out of hours rotas as necessary. Professional personal presentation and manner.
- Communicate effectively and accurately with all levels of staff
Qualifications- GCSE grades A-C in Maths, English and a Science subject.
Desirable- Awareness of Health & Safety matters
- Understanding the importance of confidentiality and data quality
Technical skills- IT proficient
- Data entry experience
- Work under pressure prioritise workload and work to deadlines
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods
- Ability to read and follow procedures and work in a methodical manner
