Job summaryWe are inviting applications from clinical leaders to become the Clinical Director for the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership. This is a five year, fixed term appointment.
The Pathology Partnership is jointly owned by Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The organisation is hosted by Barts Health.
The role is open to pathology consultants from any of the three Trusts and to consultant clinical scientists from within the Pathology Partnership.
The Pathology Partnership is categorised by NHSE as a 'thriving' pathology network and has been through a complex transformation to create an integrated pathology network across seven hospitals. This role will be crucial to the Partnership's next phase of development.
Main duties of the jobThe Clinical Director will:
- Be responsible for providing high-level clinical, operational and strategic business planning and leadership to ensure that the Pathology Partnership supports high quality patient care and ensure operational compliance with strategic agenda.
- Be a non-voting member of the Partnership Strategic Management Board and a member of the senior leadership team helping lead and direct a multi-professional team of staff in creating and delivering the strategy of the Pathology Partnership; providing a clear sense of direction articulated in a clinical strategy.
- Be dedicated to ensuring modern clinical science is fully utilised to the benefit of the care of our patients and create an organisation where those working within it are fully committed to these aspirations.
- Provide Clinical Leadership and ensure all staff are represented. Meet with team members on a regular basis to ensure that operations and clinical aspects of strategic projects are harmonised.
- Have professional responsibility for medical and clinical workforce in the Pathology Partnership, promoting the highest professional standards and accountability.
- Manage Specialty Clinical Leads and a Deputy Clinical Director (when appointed).
- Agree a system of delegated responsibility within the Pathology Partnership Executive team and be jointly responsible for its effective functioning.
