We are expanding our Rehabilitation Community Therapy service and are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and professional Band 7 Occupational Therapist Clinical Specialist who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of people.

Main duties of the job
What You'll Do

• Clinical management of a multidisciplinary team (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, technical instructors, falls nurses and core-coordinators).
• Providing clinical leadership, supervision, and, in some cases, complex caseload management (approx. 80-20% clinical/management split)
• Provide person-centred rehabilitation therapy in clients' homes and community settings
• Support clients to develop daily living skills, mobility, confidence, and independence
• Deliver structured intervention plans and monitor progress
• Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, OTs, nurses and wider MDTs
• Facilitate group-based rehabilitation, well-being sessions, or community outreach and in-reach
• Promote safety, dignity, and empowerment in every aspect of care

Job responsibilities
Work within and adhere your professional Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and The Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) standards of practice, The Trust relevant policies and guidelines.The post holder is an autonomous practitioner, responsible forleading service delivery, staff supervision, clinical audit,, and implementing policies, requiring, strong leadership, communication, and, clinical expertise. Responsible for managing a caseload of patients with a variety of complexconditions including chronic, disabling and life limiting illnesses. Carry out specialist assessment and treatment including the prescription of essential equipment as part of the therapeutic intervention. Specifically assessing issues related to the barriers which prevent the individual carrying out activities of daily living e.g. mobility, moving and handling, functional restrictions, activity tolerance, hand eye coordination, positioning, cognitive impairment, social and psychologicalissues, environmental restrictions.The post holder will act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advancedknowledge, skill and experience in their role.Assist the Clinical Specialist in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the therapy service. Educate other health care professionals, multi-agency professionals and therapystudents within the speciality.Work in the community as a lone practitioner in line with the Trust Lone Worker Policy. The post holder may be responsible for deputising for the Team Leader as appropriate.

Education and Qualification
Essential

• Graduate diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
• HCPC registration
• Member of RCOT

Desirable

• Post Graduate qualification/training in clinical specialty/related topic.
• Membership of relevant special interest group(s)
• Accredited fieldwork educator

Experience and Knowledge
Essential

• Extensive experience of working with complex rehabilitation patients with long-term conditions
• Leadership experience
• Advanced Clinical Skills in rehabilitation
• Experience of service evaluation and audit
• Experience of evidence-based practice
• Knowledge of relevant National Agendas/Policies/Frameworks
• Adept in the development of and implementation of Clinical Policies and Procedures
• Experience of disseminating information across organisational boundaries
• Experience of working within a broad interdisciplinary team / cross organization working
• Networking with other clinicians within rehabilitation to support up to date practice.
• Substantial clinical experience in a range of different areas
• Experience of teaching, development, and supervision of students, therapy assistants and junior staff.
• Maintenance of developmental portfolio
• Approachable and the ability to build excellent professional relationships, and a professional role model.
• Proactiveness to provide training and education to others.
