This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic nursing team in Gynaecology Outpatients as a Urogynaecology Specialist Nurse. You'll play a key role within our dedicated urogynaecology service while working closely with the wider gynaecology nursing team.

This role is ideal for an experienced band 6 Registered Nurse, with three years post registration experience ,who is looking to progress into a Specialist Nurse role. The successful candidate should be someone who enjoys autonomy, values meaningful patient relationships and wants to develop specialist skills within a forward-thinking, supportive team.

The successful candidate will be welcomed into a supportive environment, with guidance from our experienced medical, nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues. You'll deliver evidence-based, personalised care while developing your skills in this specialist field. We're looking for someone with curiosity, compassion and a genuine enthusiasm to grow and expand their expertise in urogynaecology.

Main duties of the job

• Working towards running nurse-led clinics such as pessary management, bladder retraining, catheter care, self catheterisation and pelvic floor education
• Work towards developing the knowledge and skills to provide specialist assessment and advice, supporting women to understand their condition and make informed choices about their care
• Work towards developing the knowledge and skills to support diagnostic and treatment pathways, and developing own skills to undertake urodynamics, conservative management and post-operative follow-up
• Work towards developing the knowledge and skills to manage your own caseload, ensuring safe, effective and timely care
• Working closely with your clinical supervisor, consultants, physiotherapists and wider MDT colleagues to deliver seamless, evidence-based care
• Contributing to service development, quality improvement and audit to help shape a modern, responsive urogynaecology service
• Work towards developing the knowledge and skills , to offer education and support to patients, families and colleagues, helping to raise awareness of pelvic health across the organisation

The Trust houses a state of the art Simulation & Skills Facility that provides training for all grades of staff to improve the safety and quality of the service that we offer our patients.

We run a portfolio of in-house courses that can be accessed by all staff to enhance their professional development needs. The training is supported by the use of modern equipment including part task trainers for such skills as venipuncture and full body manikins for the practice of emergency drills.

Job responsibilities
As a Urogynaecology Specialist Nurse, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care for women with pelvic floor and bladder conditions. You'll work both autonomously and as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team to provide expert assessment, treatment and ongoing management.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• 1st Level Registered Nurse Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult
• Relevant degree

Desirable

• Have achieved or be working towards Masters level qualification

Experience and Knowledge
Essential

• 3 years post registration experience in gynaecology / urogynaecology
• Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurses and nursing practice
• Experience of managing a caseload
• Willingness to undertake study/training relevant to speciality and job role

Desirable

• Post registration / study appropriate to role
• Experience in urogynaecology/ continence care
• Experience in Urodynamics
• Ability to independently perform urodynamics Studies
• Specialist level of knowledge in management of patients with vaginal prolapse or continence issues
• Competent to perform POPQ examination for vaginal prolapse assessment
• Experience in using validated QOL questionnaires to assess pelvic floor dysfunction
