Description

Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for a Fixed Term Service Appointment post (FTSA) in Neurology at Registrar (STRH) level within the department of Specialist Neurorehabilitation based at the University Hospital Llandough. The post is for a 6-month fixed term period (5th August 2026 to 2nd February 2027). This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated candidate interested in a career in neurology to work at registrar training grade level in the neurosciences department in Cardiff.

The successful candidate will also be expected to work within the Dermatology Department one day per week and take part in the medical on call.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will be working alongside the resident doctors and Therapies MDT, under consultant supervision, to manage the complex patients on the Neuro Rehabilitation pathway, support their goal planning and discharge process. There will also be an opportunity to attend Outpatient clinics.

One day a week, the postholder will be supporting the Dermatology Department.

There is an on call element, supporting the general medical flow rather than Neurosciences.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to the full range of complex and long-term neurological conditions and have training opportunities alongside the other clinical staff in the department, and to develop their own interests or projects within the needs of the department. Applicants need to have completed MRCP (part 2 and PACES), or equivalent; some previous experience in a neurology post would be an advantage but not essential.
