Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation TrustCommunity Staff NurseThe closing date is 29 July 2026Job summaryOur Community Nursing Teams in the Poole North Locality are looking for a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse to join their team as a fixed term or secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave. Applicants can be newly qualified, or experienced, as full training, and support will be offered. We are looking for dynamic, self motivated individuals who wish to provide a high standard of nursing care to people in their own homes.
This is a part time post of 25hrs. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, covering weekends, lates and bank holidays pro rata.
The successful individual must be able to drive and have access to a car.Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Please ensure you hold valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.Main duties of the jobThe role includes, wound care, palliative care, IV drug administration, medication/ injection administration, diabetes management and many other diverse skills.
With excellent links to local universities, the training and development we are able to offer is first class, allowing rapid upskilling and support with new skills. Newly qualified staff will have access to a preceptorship program and a specific clinical upskilling program to support their transition from student to RGN.

Person SpecificationKnowledge, Skills and TrainingEssential- Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level
- Membership of the relevant Professional Body
- Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
- Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
- Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role
Job Specific ExperienceEssential- Supervised experience gained during clinical placements
- Ability to mentor students / supervise other junior staff
- Experience of contributing to the management of change
- Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice
