Job summary
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic dietitian to join us in a Band 6 role to provide support to inpatients with complex nutritional needs including mental health, eating disorders, disorder eating, oncology and parenteral nutrition.

You will become part of a large team of dietitians and dietetic assistants. The team works in a variety of inpatient specialties, community services, paediatrics and renal. There is also a culture of continuous learning for team members and our students and apprentice .

This role offers the opportunity to develop and influence service delivery in a variety of different specialist areas, specifically including mental health, eating disorders and oncology, working closely with team leaders in these specialist areas. You will be supported to gain competency in parenteral nutrition and will design and implement QI projects within their area of practice.

There is an expectation to contribute to our established student-training programme and support other team members in their development including preceptorship.

You will participate in a variety of activities to build your CPD portfolio including training provided internally and access to external training relevant to your role.

Main duties of the job
To provide a highly specialised service to in-patients using specialist knowledge and expertise in dietetic management of nutritionally complex patients including mental health, disordered eating,eating disorders and oncology inpatients.

To support the adult acute referral pool to identify and prioritise appropriate patients

To provide a highly specialised service to inpatients across the acute hospital site as required.

To work with the Specialist dietitians and the Professional Lead for Nutrition & Dietetics to develop the dietetic service to the defined clinical area in line with national guidance.

To cover for other members of the dietetic oncology team when required.

To provide an out- patient service as required.

To attend multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences as required

Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge
Essential

• Good clinical knowledge and experience in dietetics
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience working in different clinical settings and at least 6 months clinical experience in an acute setting

Desirable

• Experience of working with a renal caseload
• Experience in Audit and Quality improvement

Qualifications
Essential

• BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
• Current HCPC Registration in Dietetics
• Clinical Supervisory Skills Course/ Student training/ Mentorship course

Desirable

• Member of British Dietetic Association
• PENG Clinical Update course or relevant post registration training in artificial nutrition support.
• Membership of relevant BDA Specialist groups e.g Renal / PENG group

• Demonstrate own practice is up-to-date and evidence-based and be able to demonstrate an awareness of current relevant research
