Job Responsibilities
The Consultant Neurologist role at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a substantive position centred on delivering high-quality, patient-focused neurological care while contributing to the ongoing development and sustainability of the Trusts neurology service. The post holder works as part of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive specialist input across both outpatient and inpatient settings, with a particular emphasis on integration with stroke medicine and acute frailty services. In terms of clinical responsibilities, the Consultant Neurologist is expected to deliver a full range of neurology services, including outpatient clinics for new and follow-up patients, ward rounds, and the assessment and management of inpatient referrals. The post holder provides expert clinical advice to colleagues across a wide range of specialties, ensuring timely and appropriate management of patients with neurological conditions. Close collaboration with multidisciplinary colleaguesincluding specialist nurses, therapists, and other consultantsis a key component of the role, alongside active participation in regular clinical meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions to support coordinated, high-quality patient care.
