Job summaryWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 7 nurse to join our Emergency Department at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a skilled team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. As a senior member of the department, you will be pivotal in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring clinical excellence and promoting innovation in emergency nursing.

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the Emergency Department, leading clinical shifts, supporting junior staff, and acting as a clinical expert.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective patient flow and uphold best practice standards.
Key responsibilities include risk assessment, resource management, mentoring, and implementing improvement initiatives. You will also engage in audit, staff education, and act as a role model for compassionate, evidence-based care.
A critical part of the role will be collaborating across services to ensure a seamless patient journey from admission to discharge or transfer.

Person SpecificationEducation and QualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse on NMC register
- Degree in Nursing
- RCN Emergency Nursing level 2
Desirable- Further studies at masters level in relevant subject
- Leadership qualification
- ALS
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Significant experience in Emergency Department
- Demonstrates effective leadership
