Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Cardiac Physiologists to join the Clinical Physiology Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. These posts are ideally suited to individuals approaching completion of their Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) who are looking to begin their career within a large, supportive and progressive cardiac service. Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a regional tertiary centre for cardiology, offering exposure to a wide range of specialist diagnostic and interventional services.

The successful candidates will work across the Cardiac Investigations Unit and wider cardiology service, gaining experience in exercise testing, ambulatory ECG analysis, and supporting procedures within the cardiac catheter laboratories. The role includes both acute and routine clinical work, alongside participation in the out of hours on call service. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills across a broad scope of cardiac physiology while working within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The jobholder will undertake a variety of clinical physiological investigations and provide high quality and factual reports to the clinical team. Diagnostic investigations will be performed on a wide range of patients including paediatric, elderly and acutely ill individuals. The jobholder will be expected to make analytical judgements and diagnoses based on technical investigations which may have a direct impact on patient care/outcomes.

The jobholder will rotate through invasive and non-invasive cardiology services and undertake clinical supervision and training of junior and trainee staff. The jobholder will ensure that all physiological equipment is in good working order prior to patient use.

What you will bring to the role
Criteria:
  • AHCS or HCPC Registration (or achieved within the first 6 months of starting role)
  • Knowledge of cardiac physiology to degree level
  • Good Theoretical knowledge of a broad range of fundamental cardiac investigations
  • Practical experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced/ specialised cardiac investigations
  • Able to work autonomously, co-ordinate, plan and prioritise workload.
  • A good team player, with the ability to work flexibly in a diverse and demanding environment.
