Job summary
Are you an experienced paediatric diabetes nurse specialist looking for a new challenge within a friendly and highly functioning diabetes team who strive to provide the highest standards of care to their patients? Do you have the enthusiasm, interest and energy to be part of delivering excellent care to CYP & families with all types of diabetes within the largest Children's Hospital in the UK?

The Children's Diabetes team at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, RMCH is pleased to be able to offer a permanent band 7 Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurses. We are seeking someone who is passionate about paediatric diabetes and achieving optimum health outcomes for all children, young people and their families living with this long-term condition.

Main duties of the job
As one of the senior paediatric diabetes nurses, you should demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. You will also need to establish effective working relationships across the organisation and National CYP Diabetes Network to continually improve our service delivery, patient experience and staff support. We provide a seamless service across tertiary, secondary and community care services for a large caseload of CYP with all forms of diabetes which adds to the appeal of working at Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital

The team provides support to families Monday-Friday from 07:30 - 17.00 with out of hours service available for families with a focus on newly diagnosed and new to HCL pump therapy.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Relevant professional qualification - RN Child
  • Educated to 1st degree level
  • Specialty qualification - Diabetes
  • Teaching qualification
  • V300 Non-Medical prescriber
  • Leadership qualification

Desirable
  • Masters or working towards masters in related subject

Aptitude/leadership

  • Evidence of excellent clinical record
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in highly demanding environment
  • Maintained development of clinical leadership skills
  • Undertaken a leadership programme
  • Evidence of diplomacy and negotiation skills
  • Able to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources

Experience
Essential
  • Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/specialty for at least 5 years
  • Experience in the care and management of children and young people with complex and rare diabetes
  • Significant evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups

  • Evidence of presentations at local, regional, national level
