The closing date is 24 July 2026Job summaryWe are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to join our Practice Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development, delivery and evaluation of education, training and practice development across our maternity service.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will support staff to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to deliver safe, effective and evidence based care. You will play a key role in implementing learning from governance, national guidance and quality improvement work, helping to improve outcomes for women, babies and families.
You will also support the maternity service to achieve and maintain compliance with national maternity standards, including the Maternity Incentive Scheme, through education, competency assessment and practice development.
The successful candidate will maintain a visible clinical presence, supporting staff in practice, developing competencies and promoting a culture of continuous learning across all maternity areas.
Main duties of the job- Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of education, training and practice development programmes for the maternity workforce.
- Support midwives, maternity support workers, student midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team through education, competency assessment, simulation training and clinical coaching.
- Maintain a visible clinical presence within the service, providing expert advice, supporting staff in practice and undertaking clinical duties when required to maintain competence and support service delivery.
- Work closely with the Deputy Director of Midwifery, Consultant Midwife, Matrons and wider Education Team to ensure learning from incidents, audits, national guidance and quality improvement initiatives is embedded into everyday practice.
- Support the maternity service to achieve and maintain compliance with national maternity standards, including the Maternity Incentive Scheme, through education, competency assessment and practice development.
- Monitor training compliance, evaluate the impact of education and contribute to workforce development and continuous quality improvement.
