Job summaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to come and join our senior midwifery team on a permanent basis. You will have an interest for all aspects of practice development and an ability to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver training, support, audit and quality improvement.
The post holder will facilitate the development of practice across maternity services and associated specialities. They will support the Matrons and Associate Director of Midwifery in directing the strategic professional and clinical development of midwifery practice and innovation to improve the experience and clinical outcomes for service users and their families. You will work across governance structures within your professional registration and Trust structures to provide, promote and develop high quality evidence based, midwifery practice. The post holder will be expected to maintain and develop accurate training records and co-ordinate, facilitate and manage in-service education programme's for maternity staff including mandatory training on medical devices.
The post-holder will be a core member of the team in driving forward improvements in quality and safety in line with the CQC core standards and MIS safety actions related to training.
Main duties of the job- To expand practice development opportunities as necessary across a broad range of disciplines/professional areas in conjunction with the local,regional and national agendas.
- To contribute to ensuring the quality of clinical area by identifying areas of good practice and establishing the professional development needs of clinical staff.
- To provide educational support and guidance to all clinical midwives, nurses and to students, particularly in relation to highlighting potential problems in clinical areas.
- To support and facilitate the development of clinical practice by providing clinical and midwifery leadership.
- Lead practice development and midwifery clinical skills training. This includes the development of midwives and support worker roles that will contribute to the continuity of patient care;
- To act as a resource to managers and clinical staff with regard to practice development and innovation at an operational level.
- Promote a culture that supports clinical audit and research across the professions of Nursing and Midwifery.
- Develop and deliver educational programmes related to developing and improving practice across the organisation, to multi-professional staff groups.
- To support the development of improved risk management processes relating to clinical practice across the profession.
- To provide clinical support to areas during periods of escalation.
