The Senior Paramedic role is a vital part of our leadership structure, playing a key role in the development, support and leadership of clinical teams across the Paramedic Emergency Services Operations.
Successful applicants will join a Senior Paramedic succession pool, from which all future temporary and permanent appointments will be made. A clear process for managing this pool has been agreed, and candidates successful at the earlier stages of the recruitment process will receive a detailed explanation of how these arrangements will work prior to the final stages.

As a Senior Paramedic, you will:
- Supervise and support your team through feedback, clinical supervision, appraisals and welfare support
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring staff are enabled to perform at their very best
- Work closely with the wider leadership team to support effective service delivery
- Actively contribute to initiatives that promote a safe working environment and high-quality clinical practice, including risk management, incident investigation, clinical audit and resource management
Main duties of the jobYour leadership will help ensure NWAS continues to deliver a safe, effective and high-quality service to the communities of the North West.
Reporting to the Group Manager, you will work alongside the Group Senior Paramedic team and wider sector leadership to ensure the efficient delivery of services.This is a primarily operational role, where you will:o Work mainly on emergency ambulances alongside your teamo Support frontline clinical practice and ensure teams remain informed of key operational and leadership messageso Collaborate with the Sector Paramedic Learning Facilitator and Sector Clinical Lead to support Newly Qualified Paramedics (NQPs) and studentsYou will also be supported to develop the leadership skills and experience required to excel in this role.Dedicated leadership time will be provided, equivalent to one 7.5-hour shift per week, to undertake leadership responsibilities away from a responding resource.As future vacancies may arise across the North West, we encourage applications from those wishing to be considered for upcoming Senior Paramedic opportunities across the region.

About usNorth West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- Evidence of relevant CPD.

Qualifications and KnowledgeEssential- HCPC registered Paramedic working to full scope of autonomous practice.
- BSC in Health Care Practice or equivalent professional experience.
- Full UK Manual Driving license, including C1.
- Appropriate emergency driving qualification.
ExperienceEssential- Evidence of experience in leadership and mentoring.
- Demonstrable experience of supporting others with CPD/ development.
