Main duties of the job
About the Role: As an Associate Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting our registered Biomedical Scientists in delivering high-quality laboratory services. Key responsibilities include:

• Looking after Specimen Reception and leading a team of Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Participating in laboratory testing procedures across Haematology, Biochemistry, Point of Care Testing, Rapid COVID-19 Testing, and Blood Transfusion if required.
• Providing technical support to scientific staff within the Blood Sciences Department.
• Working collaboratively to ensure efficient and accurate processing of samples.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• 5 GCSE or equivalent
• NVQ3 or similar level of experience through a structured training and assessment programme in Pathology Skills

Experience
Essential

• Experience of data entry or administrative typing
• Previous experience of working in a NHS setting
• NHS laboratory experience within Specimen Reception (Blood Science and Microbiology)
• Experience of data entry on to computer LIMS systems

Key Skills
Desirable

• Knowledge of Health Roster & SCR
• Understanding of medical terminology
