Job summary
This band 6 paediatric physiotherapy post offers experience in a variety of settings working closely with the multi-disciplinary team. The paediatric physiotherapy service covers children and young people who are aged from 0-19 in Camden.

We provide therapy into a variety of settings including clinics, schools, nurseries and patients' homes. Specialist service provision includes serial casting, aquatherapy, rebound therapy, rehabilitation following botulinum toxin and SDR with opportunity to work in these areas. Training is provided for CPIP assessments, developmental assessments, outcome measures and therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on evidence based, child centred practice. Opportunities for learning and development are provided through supervision, appraisal and training within our supportive team as well as external training opportunities

Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for assessment and treatment of own caseloadAssessment of children with a range of different presentations neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and developmentalResponsible for provision of individualised home and school exercise programsUpdating of programmes teaching for Teaching Assistants/Manual Handling PlansLiaison with parents/carers/education staff and the interdisciplinary team including school based staff in relation to physiotherapy programmeMaintenance/reviews of patient equipment.Review of orthotics.NP/ F/U booking appointments for - booking / telephone calls.Correspondence: emails / answer-phone messages/lettersDocumentation / correspondence/ out coming patients/educational annual reviews/equipment provision/ orthotic monitoring/ joint manual handling plansResponsible for organising groupsTeaching and clinical supervision of student physiotherapistsContribute to in service training for the wider paediatric team

Education/Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree/graduate diploma in Physiotherapy (PT)
  • Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration

Desirable
  • Certificated post- graduate courses or equivalent (paediatric)
  • Member of CSP
  • Membership of special interest group (including APCP)
  • Commitment to advanced clinical and professional development

Experience
Essential
  • Comprehensive post registration physiotherapy experience in musculoskeletal, neurology, orthopaedic and respiratory.
  • Understanding and application of the PT process with evidence of clinical reasoning; clinical problem solving
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a professional portfolio detailing post-graduate structured, supervised inservice training received/attended, reflective practice
  • Teaching/education of colleagues, multidisciplinary team and/or public/carers
  • Team working and ability to work as part of a team
  • Thorough understanding of setting & maintaining clinical standards & clinical audit
  • Evidence to work with individuals (1:1) and groups

Desirable
  • Evidence of presentation of own research/project work which informed departmental development
  • Experience with the Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) process
  • Understanding of role of therapy within current evolving health environment
  • Evidence of contribution to change within the workplace

  • Ability to effectively communicate face to face and via video consultations.
  • Able to work autonomously and use initiative
  • Ability to identify concerns and seek appropriate support. Eg including safeguarding concerns
  • Evidence of transferrable clinical skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Timely completion of notes in line with guidance from professional body
