Description

Job Summary
Passionate about CBT and want to join a welcoming and dynamic team to gain further valuable CAMHS skills and experience? Come and join Sussex CAMHS where your skills, experience and ideas will be appreciated and valued!

We are looking for a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist to join us for a fixed term contract until April 2027, or who might be open to a secondment from their existing post within SPFT, at up to 1.0 FTE.

BABCP accreditation is required for Band 7 positions.

Our team has strong links to universities and researchers. A key advantage of working in secondary care is the chance to work alongside and learn from highly specialist nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists (with trainings in systemic, DBT, creative, analytic and CBT). Within Sussex CAMHS we have a strong psychology and CBT team.

We would expect the therapist to be conversant with IAPT principles, and practiced in using ROMS and disorder specific outcome measures as part of evaluation and of their work, as well as part of ongoing team audit.

Main duties of the job
As a member of the CAMHS team, you would participate in the core multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention work of the team, and engage in multi-agency liaison work as necessary. You would also be required to participate in the supervision, training and the overall governance requirements of SPFT CAMHS.

We operate an episodic care model and you would hold some clinical lead responsibilities within these, including decision-making around treatment options.

You'd part of a very busy but lively and welcoming CAMHS team, which offers a wide range of individual, group and systemic interventions, and is involved in a number of innovative evaluation and research projects and service developments. As such, you would be encouraged to develop your skills, ideas and interests to further your expertise and that of the team, in accordance with service needs.

About us
We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex.

Working in Sussex:
  • Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns there's always new experiences to be enjoyed
  • Embrace the city life with great access to visit Brighton and London
  • With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure

We'd love you to join our organisation that is rated 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for caring by the Care Quality Commission. Our staff agree, with 82% of people in our recent staff survey telling us that they recognise that care for patients is our top priority.

Other key staff survey results include:
  • 70% highlighting flexible working opportunities as a key point for satisfaction at work
  • 79% reporting feeling able to make suggestions to improve the work within their team
  • 77% identifying the opportunities to show initiative in their roles

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
