We are looking for an experienced patient access coordinator to join our busy Emergency Department Admin team. This role will include being the first point of contact for patients which will including registration of patients that attend by foot and my ambulance. Ensuring all patients are being actively managed with an appropriate plan and providing regular updates to the clinical site team. With this you will need to monitor the decision to admit teams for patients along with any 4 or 12 hours which may occur.

Main duties of the job
The Patient Access Coordinator works in the Emergency Department (ED) and has an essential role within the ED Team. This is a combined role which includes but is not limited to:

• Reception duties: being the first point of contact for patients
• Registration of patients into the department both on foot and by ambulance
• Completion of breach data for both 4- and 12-hour national targets
• Monitoring of Decision to Admit for senior reviewed patients (DTAs)
• Handling phone calls from internal departments and external stakeholders
• Have an overview at all times of the position in the emergency Department
• Ensure that all patients are being actively managed with an appropriate plan
• Utilise escalation triggers and liaise with the Flow Nurse/ Nurse in Charge
• Provide regular SITREP updates to the Clinical Site Team
• Provide administration support and advice as required to clinical colleagues in the Emergency Department
• Manual handling of patients to assist with internal transfers
