Job summary
The appointment is for a 12-month fixed term 10 PA Consultant Gynaecologist. The post is based at St Michael's Hospital, with the job plan split between St Michael's Hospital and Weston General Hospital.

You will join a cohesive and friendly team of 40 Consultants and Associate Specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology. The appointee will be an experienced gynaecologist who has completed the RCOG benign gynae ATSM. Additional ATSMs complementary to the existing department would be welcomed (such as EPC, menopause, PAG, vulval, fibroid service or endometriosis).

Main duties of the job
The post includes 2WW clinics and general gynaecology clinics, hysteroscopy and/or myosure clinics, and there is provision to support a clinic that supports the candidate's special interests.

The post-holder will provide elective inpatient and outpatient care to patients referred with benign gynaecological conditions, including clinics and operating. The post holder will be expected to participate in emergency 'hot week' cover, and there is a non-resident (1 in 14) on call covering gynaecology only. There is no obstetrics in this job.

Qualifications & Training
Essential
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview

  • Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent

Experience

  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Gynaecology
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision

  • Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
