Job summaryThis full-time Specialty Trust Grade (Registrar) post within the Adult Mental Health Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) at Bitterne Park Medical Centre provides an excellent opportunity for a doctor seeking to develop their experience in General Adult Psychiatry. The successful candidate will work alongside two Consultant Psychiatrists and a rotating Core Psychiatry Trainee, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to adults with complex mental health needs within a multidisciplinary team environment.
The post is ideally suited to doctors who have completed Foundation and Core Psychiatry competencies (or equivalent) and are looking to gain further experience before entering higher specialist training (ST4) or pursuing a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). Applicants should demonstrate experience in the assessment and management of psychiatric disorders, with MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification being desirable.
Main duties of the job- Provide Registrar-level assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing management for adults receiving care within the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
- Work collaboratively with Consultant Psychiatrists, multidisciplinary team (MDT) colleagues, primary care services, carers and partner organisations to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental state examinations, risk assessments and formulation of management plans.
- Contribute actively to multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, care planning and service reviews.

QualificationsEssential- Full Registration with the General Medical Council
- Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
- 3 years experience in training posts in Psychiatry
Desirable- MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
ExperienceEssential- Evidence of completion of Foundation level or Equivalent 2 year training programme.
- Demonstrate Knowledge, skills and experience in General Adult Psychiatry.
- 3 years of core training in Psychiatry
