This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Pharmacy Team at MPFT for a 15-month fixed term contract.

As the Lead Digital Transformation Pharmacy Technician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Pharmacy Team and the wider trust with the Pharmacy digital transformation programme, helping to improve prescribing, medicines administration, clinical workflows, data quality and reporting, staff experience and, most importantly, patient safety.

The post holder will have the opportunity to maintain skills and competencies by regularly supporting Pharmacy Clinical Hospital Services to include the Final Accuracy Checking of Medications.

Main duties of the job

• Take the lead for the analysis of prescribing and business data, and reporting this at a senior level within the pharmacy team and preparing thematic reports for Care Groups.
• Lead on the development of new pharmacy systems e.g. EPMA and EPS that may involve partnership working within ICS systems

Job responsibilities
Digital Innovation

• Lead on and act autonomously on the project management of the introduction of new digital ways of working both directly impacting clinical service e.g. DMS and improving efficiency within the Pharmacy Team e.g. development of apps to aid clinical service review

Informatics

• Supporting the development and review of policies, procedures and guidelines for informatics activities.
• Work effectively with the pharmacy clinical team to support staff with prescribing data enquiries.
• Engage colleagues in regular feedback on informatics on medicines usage.
• Responsible for the provision of regular reports to senior pharmacy team on the thematic analysis of medicines usage for in-patient and outpatient activities utilising a range of software
• Improve (or establish) pharmacy-related metrics through technology implementation and improvement.
• Be equipped with knowledge of pharmacy practice and informatics implementation to ensure safe clinical decision-making.
• Maintain clinical competence to support changes to systems to enhance clinical practice and support safe and effective care.
• Identify and manage changes to business process required for the implementation of clinical systems.
• Manages the delivery of training on clinical informatics systems.
• Leads on the delivery of testing the clinical functionality of clinical systems across the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Department.

Person Specification
Experience & Qualifications
Essential

• Experience of using clinical systems, pharmacy systems or electronic patient records.
• Post-registration experience as a pharmacy technician within the NHS or Health Care Provider setting.
• Accredited checking qualification or equivalent relevant experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate digital medicines information to staff from different professional backgrounds.
• Experience & knowledge of medicines management processes, medicines optimisation and safe use of medicines.

Desirable

• Experience of supporting ePMA, EPS, RiO or other digital clinical systems
• Experience of system testing, user acceptance testing, issue logging or change control
• Ability to use reporting tools or interpret data from digital clinical systems. Ability to support system configuration, testing scripts or change control processes.
• Qualification or training in digital health, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement or change management.

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPHC
