We are looking to recruit a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team.
We welcome interest from those already qualified and would consider a trainee position if prison vetting is already in place.Qualified applicants will hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies
You will work as part of a diverse and supportive team of Psychological Therapists, PWPs, nurses, psychologists, and psychiatrists. We are able offer our team members the opportunity to continue to develop their expertise via training and development opportunities in different parts of our service.
THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ACCROSS MULTIPLE PRISON SITES SO THEREFORE ABILITY TO DRIVE AND TRAVEL INDEPENDENTLY IS ESSENTIAL AS SOME SITES ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT .

Our service uses an integrated model from arrest to release from prison thus allowing a PWP's and the wider team to know the full process and journey of the service user. We have found this model really works and makes our working much more collaborative and joined up. The role will be based across the 3 prisons.

Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesWe are looking for a qualified PWP who has knowledge and experience of working within busy and challenging environments such as community wellbeing services or secure environments and working with people who present with a range of common mental health difficulties, including depression and anxiety.
We will consider applicants for a trainee position if prison vetting is already in place.
The successful applicant will work autonomously and provide direct interventions to a defined caseload of service users operating within recognised professional guidelines. Qualified PWP's will usually undertake 5 contacts to provide assessments and interventions a day with residents of the prisons. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a Psychological Therapist and report directly to the Senior PWP.
This role is based across multiple bases across Norfolk (HMP Norwich, HMP Bure and HMP Wayland) as well as trust sites. You will be required to travel independently to these locations.Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
- Skills in effective risk assessment and risk management
- Experience in the delivery of evidence based step 2 interventions
Desirable- Evidence of working in the local community
- Experience of delivering training and developing others
QualificationsEssential- Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification OR Experienced and Qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant experiences and competencies as required
Desirable- Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
- A qualification in provision of supervision
SkillsEssential- Responding flexibly and appropriately to unforeseen circumstances
- Using clinical supervision and opportunities for personal development positively and effectively
- Competent assessments
- Basic IT, including use of email/internet
KnowledgeEssential- Mental health/mental Illness
- Evidence based step-2 interventions
Desirable- Awareness of serious mental health presentations (psychosis, bi-polar)

OtherEssential- Ability to drive with access to own vehicle to travel independently, and willingness to travel between the 3 prisons and other locations throughout the organisation
