Job SummaryTo work as a member of the Hospital at Night Team, assisting the Clinical Site Matrons, Clinical Site Practitioners and Critical Care Outreach Team to support ward and medical staff in the provision and continued development of an efficient and high-quality service.
To carry out a defined range of clinical skills and duties involving direct care as directed by and in support of the Hospital at Night team, medical staff and duty manager.
To report any changes in the condition of the patient or untoward incidents to the registered practitioner responsible for care and appropriate member of the Clinical Hospital at Night Team.
To assist with other duties as required to facilitate the Hospital at Night service which may include supply of equipment and administrative tasks, to optimise patient experience.
Main Duties of the JobTo assist with the provision of high-quality nursing care during all out of hours' time periods, working nights, Twilights and weekends cross site.
To review and prioritise own workload where needed, under the direction of a Registered Practitioner.
To deliver clinical skills independently for patient's trust wide following prioritising of patient need by Clinical Site Matron/Practitioner, supporting junior doctor colleagues as needed.
To communicate effectively and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
To assist in the mentoring of Band 2 Healthcare Assistants within the clinical environment as instructed by the Hospital at Night team.
To maintain levels of competence and ensure that consistent skills are maintained.
To offer leadership & role modelling to Band 2 Healthcare Assistants in liaison with the Hospital at Night team.
To manage own time effectively, responding to requests for clinical support in a timely manner.
To ensure that equipment used for clinical care is cleaned and clinical areas are clean and free from hazards in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.

Provide support to Site Managers, Critical Care Units and Emergency Departments at times when wards workload is reduced which may include supporting timely movement and transfer of patients between departments e.g. ED to Imaging department.
Provide practical support to Critical Care Outreach Team which may include delivering equipment needed in an emergency or supporting transfer of patients in a timely manner.
Person SpecificationKey Skills- Ability to work under pressure
Education and Qualifications- Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health-related subject or equivalent
- Completion of Care Certificate
Experience & Knowledge- Extensive current experience of core clinical competencies such as venepuncture, IV cannulation, 12-Lead ECG's, measuring ketones, undertaking clinical observations
