Job summaryThis advert is posted on behalf of Heady Hill Surgery. The successful applicant will be employed directly with Heady Hill. We are a welcoming two-partner GP training practice in Heywood caring for over 3,000 patients. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP for 6 sessions per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). Our practice is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and uses EMIS Web as our clinical system, supported by Accurx to facilitate efficient patient communication and workflow
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services to our practice population. Clinical work includes a combination of face-to-face and telephone consultations with standard 10-minute appointments. The role includes:
- Morning and afternoon GP surgeries
- Participation in the on-call rota for one full day per week (finishing at 6:30 pm), including urgent triage, prescription queries and clinical advice
- Assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions
- Prescribing and medication reviews
- Management of patients with long-term conditions
- Home visits
- Appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services
- Reviewing and actioning pathology results, hospital correspondence, prescriptions and clinical documents via Docman
- Completion of referrals within practice timescales
- Completion of GMS contractual reports and other medical reports as required

- Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based clinical care.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous medical records.
- Develop personalised management plans with patients.
- Promote health education, disease prevention and self-management.
- Ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up.
- Adhere to NHS, GMC and practice clinical standards and guidelines.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR and information governance requirements.
Practice ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will be expected to:
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in practice meetings, MDT discussions, clinical governance and significant event reviews.
- Contribute to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and enhanced services.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and CQC requirements.
- Maintain annual appraisal and mandatory training requirements.
- Contribute to the education and supervision of GP Registrars and other learners attached to the practice where appropriate.
Person SpecificationEssential- Fully qualified General Practitioner with current GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Included on the NHS England GP Performers List.
- Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills.
- Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Own car with UK driving license for home visits
