Description

Job Summary
Are you a dynamic clinical leader ready to take the next bold step in your career? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same? Are you passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-focused urgent care?

If so, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) wants you to take the helm of our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in Penzance, with strategic oversight of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) service across RCHT.

Our UTC is a cornerstone of unscheduled care in West Cornwall - a place where expert clinical judgement, compassionate leadership and innovative thinking come together to deliver outstanding patient experience. As we continue to develop our urgent care pathways, your leadership will directly influence how patients access safe, timely, high-quality treatment close to home.

This is your chance to shape services, empower advanced clinical practice, and lead an exceptional multidisciplinary team committed to making a real difference.

If you're excited by the opportunity to lead a high-performing UTC and influence advanced practice across one of the most stunning regions of the UK, we would love to hear from you.

Apply now and help us deliver exceptional urgent care for the people of Cornwall. Your next leadership adventure starts here.

Main Duties of the Job
As the UTC Unit Lead, you will:
  • Provide inspirational and visible leadership at the Penzance UTC
  • Oversee and support the ENP workforce across the Trust
  • Drive clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous improvement
  • Lead and support teams through service development and transformation
  • Ensure the highest standards of care, governance, and workforce wellbeing
  • Collaborate with acute, primary care and community partners across Cornwall

This is a role for someone who can balance operational oversight with compassionate leadership--someone who brings clarity, energy and clinical credibility to every challenge.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week.

About Us
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is at the heart of acute and specialist care for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We care for a population of around 470,000 people, a number that rises significantly during peak visitor seasons. We employ around 6,700 staff, united by a shared commitment to deliver safe, high-quality care. We provide services across three main hospital sites, with around 780 inpatient beds:
  • Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro
  • St Michael's Hospital in Hayle
  • West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance

As a teaching hospital, we are proud to work in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, the University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School, supporting the next generation of health professionals while continually strengthening our own services.

Education and lifelong learning are central to who we are. The Knowledge Spa, located on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site, is a vibrant hub for medical, nursing and professional education across clinical and non-clinical roles. It plays a vital role in attracting, developing and retaining highly skilled teams who support the care of more than half a million people every year.

We are driven by one clear ambition - Outstanding Care for One and All - care that's safe, kind and high-quality, for every patient and every staff member. We are RCHT.
