Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesPlease refer to the supporting job description and person specification which will outline the duties of the role including an indicative job plan.
The post holder will gain experience as a high-volume operator in complex PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) with full involvement in the CTO service using the hybrid algorithm and experience in the implantation and management of the Impella mechanical support device.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the assessment of patients in a dedicated CHIP clinic.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Essential Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application.
- MB ChB or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
Desirable- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of interview
Clinical ExperienceEssential- Broad Training in general Cardiology
- Independent Angiogram operator with at least 300 cases
- 2nd Operator PCI experience - 50-100 cases
- 1st Operator PCI experience - 50-100 cases
- ST 7 equivalent or Post CCT.
Desirable- Exposure to complex PCI as a 1st Operator
- Experience in research and publication in cardiology especially intervention
- Resource management and committee work
ResearchEssential- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.
- Basic understanding of research methods and statistics.
Desirable- Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
- MD/PhD.
Teaching and TrainingEssential- Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
Continuous Professional DevelopmentEssential- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
Personal AttributesEssential- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values
