This is a chance for you to make a real difference to patient care whilst developing your knowledge and skills of working in an Emergency Department further.
Main duties of the jobMembers of the Senior Nursing Team will require strong management and leadership qualities, whilst overseeing the team to deliver the highest possible patient care. It will support the Department Matron to drive forward evidence based practice and take responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
The post holder to lead and develop a team of nurses assigned to them whilst impacting on all the nurses in the department. There is a significant focus on The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust's (SaTH's) ED quality agenda which is monitored strictly by the CQC.
It is advocated you will participate in cross site working.

Person SpecificationProfessional /technical QualifEssential- RGN
- Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality.
Experience and KnowledgeEssential- Extensive experience post registration with recent experience in the relevant speciality or equivalent with appropriate experience
- Managerial ability
- Substantial experience of leading and managing a clinical team
- High level clinical skills and knowledge.
- Evidence of coordinating and managing day to day operational issues on a regular basis.
- Experience in teaching and training of staff
- An awareness and understanding of national and local issues that affect Nursing and the NHS as a whole. Up to date knowledge and understanding of nursing policy and practice relevant to speciality
Desirable- Experience in undertaking a preceptor/mentor role.
- Involvement in Nursing audit and Research
- Leadership ability - completion of LEO 3 day programme or equivalent
Skills and AbilityEssential- Evidence of excellent communication skills including verbal, nonverbal and written.
- Microsoft office PC and Sema Pas skills
