An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated pharmacist to join the Women's and Children's Pharmacy Team as an Advanced Paediatric Clinical Pharmacist specialising in Paediatric Oncology and Haematology.
You will provide clinical pharmacy services and support to children and young people receiving cancer treatment. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, regional Principal Treatment Centres and oncology networks, you will contribute to safe, effective and patient-centred medicines optimisation.
As part of the developing Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit (POSCU), you will support specialist oncology pharmacy services across inpatient, outpatient and day-case settings.
The role offers specialist development in paediatric oncology and haematology, access to regional and national networks, opportunities for service development, and a supportive multidisciplinary environment focused on innovation and professional growth.

Main duties of the job
About the Role
As an Advanced Paediatric Clinical Pharmacist, you will deliver advanced clinical pharmacy services to paediatric patients, developing specialist expertise in oncology and haematology. Key responsibilities include:
- participating in consultant-led ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings
- providing expert advice on systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) and supportive care medicines
- clinically screening oncology prescriptions
- supporting medicines optimisation and patient counselling
- contributing to service development, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance
- supporting digital prescribing initiatives, chemotherapy safety programmes, and providing education and supervision to pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals
About You
You will be a GPhC-registered pharmacist with experience in an acute hospital pharmacy setting, strong clinical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. You should be committed to delivering high-quality care for children and young people and motivated to develop specialist expertise in paediatric oncology. Experience in paediatrics and/or oncology, postgraduate qualifications, and involvement in audit, research or service improvement activities are desirable.

Job responsibilities
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
- You will be responsible for the delivery of expert patient care providing support to the lead pharmacists. This includes development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHSx Pharmacy strategy.

- Master of Pharmacy degree at a British School of Pharmacy or recognised equivalent
- Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council

- Experience of MDT working
- Able to evaluate the clinical appropriateness, safety and legality of prescriptions based on the patients' disease, co-morbidities and other medication and treatment taken, contacting the prescriber to make agreed changes as appropriate.
